Part 1: Issue Research - Rape Culture
Part 2: Philosophy Cover Letter
Part 4: Proposal
Part 5: Reflection
1. To what extent did I choose an issue that I genuinely care about?
- I think that I took the time to decide on an issue that I am most passionate about and eager to learn more about it. I think there is still so much to learn about rape culture and there are so many questions to consider within my topic and there is plenty of room for growth with my knowledge on my topic. I think my topic is very interesting and needs to be talked about and solutions proposed.
- Ever since I was pretty young I was talked to by my mom, about rape and sexual assault and what to do in certain situations. My mom is very passionate about it and I have adapted to that passion as well. I think my topic is very important. I do not necessarily connect or have an experience that relates to my topic but it is an injustice and one that I have a lot to say and a lot that I still want to learn. It also relates to my senior project and it is a great head start on that.
- I think I learned about the many ways that I can take my project, there are so many paths and questions to consider with my topic and knowing certain research skills, like how and where to find the best information is going to be very helpful for my senior project. So far I have found that videos and TED talks is where I am gathering the most information.
- I think the most informative part of this assignment for me was researching specific sexual education curriculums and how they differ from what I as a student, have experienced. I found it interesting and important to look at a lot of programs and I was able to really find a specific program that resonated with my proposal, it was inspiring.
- I think I could have completed a better proposal. I think I did a good job organizing and getting across what was really needed but I think I could have gone deeper with it and expanded more on each of the lessons and what each one will go over. I think I could have gone deeper with it.
