"CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE"
Project Reflection:
DIY (Do It Yourself) has always been an interest of mine I do it out of school anyways and I think it is very fun and entertaining and it's always fun to see the final results. DIY can mean many things and that can include up-cycling older items. For my passion project I worked with a partner to use our creativity skills and DIY interest to up-cycle thrifted items including home decor and clothing, everything that we purchased was between $1 and $6. We both used our own personal styles and aesthetic to create some beautiful product. We wanted to work together and learn new skills from each other. We thought that by working together we could get a lot more done than working individually. For the project we also created some youtube videos using iMovie to show or process. We just wanted to show our process on how we use our minds and create a process for people to follow. My partner and I decided to create two videos to upload on YouTube, the first video includes home decor that we up-cycled in our own way and the second video is clothing that we found that did not match our personal styles and so we had cut and sewn to beautify the items as best we could. This project was very student driven and that is what makes it unique and powerful.
If I were able to do this project over again, I would communicate better with my partner right at the start. Whenever I found myself feeling frustrated with the project I would ignore my thoughts and wait for them to pass. Although my partner and I accomplished a lot throughout the time that we had, we disagree some of the time and it cause us to procrastinate and finish some of the items later than we wanted to. If I were able to just communicate with my partner about how I was feeling I would have felt more calm and less stressed and We could have done even more items than we did, or refined some of the product in last minute time. Although the project was awesome, I wish it would have been more fun than it was. What we decided to do for our Passion Project was simple and a lot of it we already did out of school and enjoyed so I wish I could have stayed more content throughout the project and talked with my peer to help me out whenever I started to feel angry or stressed. There were some moments when I was unhappy with the way our project was going and I think my attitude and the results of the project could have resulted better.
There are many things that my partner and I were thinking of doing next with this project. We both enjoy DIY and creating these videos and I hope we can work together to keep on working. Especially over summer break when we find ourselves bored we can start new projects. I know that we want to keep creating things and making videos to show our process throughout. Maybe we will branch out and try to use our skills to create something else, maybe bigger projects. I think that we would also like to sell our items because we know some people who are willing to buy our product. So whether we wanted to create a website and sell our items through the website, or just sell them on DePop or Etsy. Either way I would be happy just. It takes time to upcycle items and I hope that people would be willing to buy from us with a fair price.I know that this is an interest of mine and I love doing DIY and upcycle things for cheap. I hope to continue and grow with these type of creations because it can be a lot of fun and I know that we will have time to do this and make more videos. Maybe our channel will grow and more and more people can know what we do and why.
